My Encounter with the Rebbe
I was just 5 years old.
I believe it was my first and last time saying something to the Rebbe in person before gimmel tammuz...
But sitting here today, 28 years later, all I really want to say is those same two simple things.
“Thank you, Rebbe!”
And, “We want Moshiach now!”
There’s nothing else to add.
The rest is just commentary.
First, I want to say, “Thank you Rebbe” -
For your love, for your kindness, for your sensitivity, for your caring...
For your teachings - that inspire me, that encourage me, that uplift me, that empower me, that energize me...
For your clear answers and blessings when I reach out to you - through your letters, or your videos, or other obvious Divine Providence...
For feeding me faith ever since I was a little girl - in Hashem, in the Torah, in Moshiach, and in myself, and in others...
For making my mission so clear, for making us your Shluchim, for giving me such a purposeful meaningful life.
For your wise outlook and guidance and advice - on marriage, on children, on relationships, on time, on potential, on yiddishkeit, on every mitzvah...
For always reminding me to stay positive and joyful and grateful, and to never allow the other side to pull me down...
For being the one person that I can send others to whenever they are in need.. for always being that one address of hope, the one everyone could turn to, no matter how hopeless they feel...
For being my children’s Rebbe, for being everyone’s personal Rebbe..
And for your patience, your understanding, your compassion, your loyalty, your complete selflessness... - for me and for ALL the Jewish people.
And this is only a small drop in the ocean..
Who knows how much more you do for us, and pray for us, and bless us, and fight for us, and suffer for us, and sacrifice for us...without us even knowing?!
How fortunate is our generation to have the greatest Rebbe of all of history!!
And the second (and last) thing I want to say is, “Rebbe, we really want Moshiach now!!!”
Ever since the day you became Rebbe, you made it clear that you had just one goal,
To inspire our generation to believe in Moshiach, to prepare for Moshiach, and to really WANT Moshiach now!
You explained that our generation must complete the purpose of creation, that we must be the ones to bring the Shechina (Divine Presence) back down, that there’s no option of going backwards...
And you did EVERYTHING in your power to help us make that happen. And everything you did was towards this one and ONLY goal.
But 40 years later, you painfully told us that you weren’t yet successful. That all that you had done until then didn’t help, because while we have seemingly been crying out “ad mosai/until when?”, it was only because you told us to, and not because we sincerely felt the need for it ourselves personally.
But Rebbe, all these years later it’s impossible to say that we aren’t meaning it with an “emes”. Look at us now! We have never been closer. We have never been believing in it more, wanting it more, learning it more, talking about it more, uniting for it more... and this time “on our own”.
Rebbe, we truly want Moshiach now! It’s no longer just words. You can show Hashem that we are really ready now! We are actually MORE than ready!
We are very tired of waiting, but we are even more stubborn! We want Moshiach too much to ever give up chv.
Not only because you want us to want.
Not only because we want to see you again.
Not only because we are living in such crazy times and we are just done with the golus.
But mainly because we want the purpose of creation to finally be fulfilled! We want the truth to finally be revealed! We want to say goodbye to all the superficiality, to all the masks, to all the social distancing created by our egos, that separate us from each other and from Gd! We want to see Hashem rejoice as He returns to His garden! And we want to truly know Him, and serve Him, and rejoice with Him forever!
And we want Moshiach NOW -
We don’t want to wait another day.
Or another moment.
Because if we don’t want it now, we don’t really want it ever...
And if we don’t believe it can happen now, we don’t believe it can happen ever...
But we DO want! And we DO believe!
And we know there’s no such thing as missing the boat chv,
Because the boat has nobody else to take, and nowhere else to go...
The captain has just been waiting for us to finally board...
Rebbe, we are ready to finally board the boat with you!
